"The history of Bob-Lo cannot — and should not — be told without Dororthy's story. This story is about having values and believing in yourself."
ANNESSSA CARLISLE
A native of Royal Oak, Mich., Carlisle spent many years working as a reporter and associate editor for local Detroit newspapers. Like every writer, Annessa was always looking for the perfect story. Her story came in the form of a person who has been tied to the author’s family for years but has also been tied to a magical place in the Detroit River for a lifetime. The experience of discovering the story and the inspiring nature became a passion for the author; a passion she can’t wait to share.
It is a story of a very special place in Detroit history, but more importantly the story of a very special woman who had a lot to share including the importance of conviction, having a purpose, and making life interesting. For history is made up of people, not just places, and in the history of Bob-Lo Island there is no one more interesting than Dorothy Tresness.
